The Story of Your Business

as a Christmas Tree - Part V

In the spirit of the season, I’ve put together a visual representation of the layers that combine to create the story of your business with a Christmas Tree theme. Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing one branch at a time as we ascend through the ever-more-descriptive levels of content that make up the entirety of your business’ story. How far up the “tree” does your business’ story go? How can it reach greater heights of personality and authenticity to pique customers' interest?

I invite you to join my email list so you can learn more about an exciting opportunity to unearth, claim and proclaim your business’ story coming early in 2024.

We began revealing our tree from the bottom branches where the information - like the decorations - blend in with the tree itself and isn't very informative or interesting. The "lower branches" of your business' story might include your business name and tagline, your name and title, where you can be reached and your hours of operation. Next comes a layer of broad details which distinguish the business by adding a little color and flair. As our tree grows ever taller and more beautiful, we add another level containing information about your expertise and includes descriptions of your experience, talent and skills which helps customers feel more confident about working with you. Next came a level expressing your professional goals - your ultimate intentions behind your business that include influence, reach, the money you intend to earn and the difference it willl make in the world. We're reaching a point in the story of your business that touches upon more profound and relatable truths about the heart of your business!

The next layer of your businesss' story is its (and your) personality. What makes you unique - how do you illustrate that in the way you run and represent your business to the public? How do you display the passion you have for your business and how does it reflect what you express about yourself when you promote your offerings? We've touched upon the nerve center of your business - what makes you tick! These elements may not be evident to you but with some help, you'll be able to see them clearly - and feel confident utilizing your business' personality to set it apart from other businesses.

As we climb higher on the tree, we begin to see how there is a whole story to be fleshed out around your business. It's so much more than the cold and distant facts we began with at the base of the tree. Interacting with a business that has motivation, personality and heart is so much more compelling - just like a Christmas tree beautifully decorated with an array of decorations!
